Possibly overheating?

Hey guys!

I've noticed just recently that in some of my games I play (admittedly mostly WoW) after a while the textures start going funny, white blocks appearing, lines appearing on the textures, all that sort of thing.

I just checked my gfx card temperature, and it's a whopping 62degrees! I'm sure that can't be the normal temperature, can it? If not, what can I do to reduce the temperature of it?

My CPU temp is around 38degrees, I think, although I've just looked at SpeedFan, and it's confused me a tad.

My computer use isn't excessive, it's never on for more than 4-5 hours. I have an Antec P180 case btw, and i've just notched the case fans on to high, to see if that helps any.

Am I having overheating issues?

62 degrees is perfectly normal for a gfx card it will cool down to 40ish when you not using it.

so i would say it isnt overheating f that temp is right

Well thats pretty re-assuring then. I know CPUs sit at around the 38-42 mark normally, which is why I thought 62 was overheating, even though it was for my gfx card.

I guess I'll just have to wait on my new hardware to arrive, and go from there, still strikes me as odd that the issue only occurs a couple of hours into use.

Could be the memory potentially or maybe drivers. I would download ATItool and scan for artifacts and see if it finds any at stock speeds.

From what I've seen, yeah. I've played CSS for a couple of hours and seen similar stuff happen (dodgy textures etc), and I think I remember it happening in Rome Total War, but it's been a while since I played that for more than 5 minutes without getting bored

strange cause the symptons you say do sugest an overheating issue to me but the temps are no wer enear hot enough.

when the lines problems start if you come out of the game and go back in are thet still there ???

Yep, almost always. The other thing I find which is only with WoW is when I exit out of the game to the log on screen, leave it for say 20 minutes, and come back, theres all sorts of crazy flickering going on with it.
