I had dreads years ago when living in NZ, got them done at some jamaican hair place, specializing in dreads. Was awesome having them, till my school in england said im not allowed them .

That's what I thought, but after a bit of googling it would seem not. You use dread wax or similar..?

Mine were done using some hair cap, pulling hair through and literally rolling them with wax etc, hard.

silly boy. still looks cool though.

Best thing about having dreads - no fringe to worry about :D

(well, actually...the best thing about dreads is putting all your hair up so you look like a pen troll)

stop it!
I'm going home from uni in a week and a friend has said she'll dread my hair for me again, even though i could do it myself........decisions decisions

i got the same crap when i was at school, i would have taken it further as well if i had any other people in the room to hear the reason. The teachers precise reason word were "you'rw not black, therefore you can't have them in school" to which i argued that was racist and he said no im not Ethiopian origin or some rubbish so I'm not allowed, i told him im don't follow any religion so he could dictate my choice based on religion and then just said i'd get suspended if i came in with them, so parents made me cut them off. Fast forward 2 years and some kid i know younger then me had dreads in the same school:rollyeyes:

there's loads of ways of doing it - you can do as you say and neglect them - it takes ages, they aren't even shapes, widths etc though. You can partition them and you backcomb towards the root. It takes ages to do a whole head - took about 8 hours to do mine (lovely girlfriend, ahhhhhh), I've had them about 18 months and they're getting really nice now. They do take lots of maintenance when they're young though.

I thought I had some recent pics but I was obviously wrong - this is me dressed as a chinese person, with one-too-many JDs in me, so leave me alone!

Exactly same here, and then we said why is that guy allowed them etc, and threatened to take it even further, then they said i was allowed, but by then i couldnt be bothered with it.

Sic, how long do they take to grow in length? And what happen whens they do? Do you just have to backcomb/roll the roots? Looks good man.

my hair before dreads was just above my shoulders, lost about 2 inches
