hi guys i have just finished my build and shes a beauty, here is the parts list:
cpu
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
cpu cooler
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
motherboard
ASRock Z97 EXTREME6 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
ram
G.Skill trident x 2666mhz 16gb with fan
storage
Sandisk Extreme Pro 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
GPU
GALAX GeForce GTX 970 4GB Infinity Black Edition Video Card
case
Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU
Super Flower Leadex Gold 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

i didn't fit a dvd drive, whether this was a wise move or not i dont know lol.
But either way all my hardware came with driver cds which i cant run.
I needed a lan driver to get going, so i went on my laptop and downloaded the intel LAN driver for my motherboard from ASROCKS website and then installed that into my pc off a usb.
I allowed windows updates to install all my other drivers i.e. nvidia etc.
my pc is running fine as is and is crushing games.

i was just wondering if there is any drivers i should install to MAXIMISE performance of my build.
the asrock website has pages of drivers for my motherboard, do i need them and will they help?

Also how do i get my infinity GPU to run at the clock speeds advertised? should it run at base clock out of the box? and do i need to do something to get it to run at boost clock?

What im basically asking, is there things i need to do/ install to get these components running at their full potential. feel free to scan the list and comment on any component.

i have set the XMP profile of my RAM btw, thats one thing i new how to do.

Also what is best way about going about stability testing and overclocking all my components.

I guess the whole things is what do i need to do now the build is over basically lol.

Thanks a lot if you have read this far haha

lots of different questions in one thread :-)

as for drivers, i dont think performance wise you can go wrong going with motherboard manufactureres website for all motherboard components...the main one is the intel chipset drivers as storage subsystem can be affected adversely (wrt to performance) with wrong drivers.....I have found windows driver detection to be untrustworthy and problemmatic compared to motherboard manufactuers and performance no better.

download latest drivers for non motherboard components eg gpu too.
