Hi all,

Just finished building my gaming pc and have a few questions...

Computer Case : Cooler Master CM-690 II Advanced dominator
CPU : Intel Core i5 2500k (4 x 3.30GHz)
CPU Heatsink : Cool master Hyper 212 plus
Memory : OCZ Platinum 4GB (2X2GB) 1600MHz
Graphics Card : 2 x ATI Radeon HD 6970
Motherboard : 1 x Asus P8P67 Pro Intel P67 DDR3 *Revision B3*
Sound Card : N/A
Networking : 1 x Motherboard Integrated Ethernet Lan (Broadband Ready)
USB Ports : 1 x 6 x USB 2.0 Ports & 2 x USB 3.0 Ports
Firewire Ports : 1 x 1 Port Firewire IEEE 1394 (Built In)
Power Supply : 1 x XFX PRO 750 Core edition power supply
Hard Drive #1 : Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB sata-II 32MB
Optical Drive #1 : 1 x Samsung (SH-S223C/BEBE) 22 x DVD
Monitor : BenQ G925HDA 18.5" Widescreen LCD monitor - Black
Sound System : Edifier R1600T Studio Plus 2.0 Monitor

What is the normal post build procedure? What should I be adjusting, installing in terms of software progs ( apart from the drivers etc that came with the components). Also I plugged both my optical drive and Hard disk into the navy blue sata 6 ports, and on the manual it mentions not to insert n e ATAPI Devices. Ideas?

Also sometimes when i boot it up, it boots itself up twice in a matter of 10 seconds for some reason, any ideas?

Nice components :)

Uhm, standard procedure varies from person to person.

Obviously install all the drivers/and the OS.

Then you're probably looking at:

Anti-virus.
If you want to Overclock, overclock before installing masses of stuff - therefore if anything goes wrong it's not the end of the world.
Stability test your over clock
Install the rest of your stuff
Enjoy

Steam is where you get all your games, download, add us all and enjoy, get left for dead 1 or 2. "[ocuk] paulh"

Dont forget to install the latest drivers from the websites for your new stuff as the cd's could be well out of date. GFX drivers most of all.

Reboot twice on cold start, not reboot, is probably a boot test & quite normal on your mobo. Look in manual.

Thanks. Will have a look. Also in terms of overclocking, what exactly should i adjust and monitor to see how the system is responding and if it is alright etc. Stability is of key importance to me btw. (I'm a little new to overclocking so pardon my ignorance)
 
There is an "i" overclocking guide on here if you search I think! I've never done it, take your time download "prime95" to stress test and read, read ,read and you'll be fine. i learnt everything I know form OCUK!

Q9550@ 3.9 (stock 2.8) thats over 1 free ghz!
 
Yeah good point!

I do ahve one issue with the computer post build. When ever it goes into hibernation because of being left idle for a while, I can t seem to boot it up by simply pressing the power button, as it just switcehs on the fans and does something but never actually switches teh monitor backon. I then hold the power button until it switchesoff and then switch it on again, and it boots up again normally. Any ideas?
 
Hi all,

I've been running my new system for a week now but for some reason on boot up, sometimes it comes up with a overclocking failed message, and press f1 to enter settings menu, when I haven't even started adjusting any settings yet! Could anyone let me know why its thinking I've overclocked it and furthermore what steps I can perform in order to get to the root of the problem
