You'd have to be a greater man, surely Captains can't demote Admirals Shirely :p

Still undecided on this, hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. They all look rather tired or something as well in the ads although there's still some of the old spark shining through.
 
There's only three alternatives: it thinks we're either a threat, food or a mate.... It's either gonna kill us, eat us or hump us. Either we persuade him we're not that kinda oceanic salvage vessel, or we scarper pronto...
 
I have re-watched all the episodes recently since the new series is coming soon! However I am struggling with a bit of continuity near the end.
It all makes sense up to season 8, when they have Red Dwarf back all brand new and remade by the nanobots, crew and all. (although this season is possibly the worst one of all)
I'm assuming they cancel the end of 8 without finishing it off in any sense, and then season 9 coming so long after they just chose a "special" for the 3 episodes which weren't based on the end of 8

So with all that said, S9 they didn't have Red Dwarf of Cachanski, so it made no sense, it was as if S8 didn't exist.

Does anyone know where S10 will be taking off from? Does Red Dwarf exist? Are they in Starbug? Etc Etc.

1stly... It's Kochanski ;)

2ndly...

There is no series 9 of Red Dwarf
There never will be a series 9 of Red Dwarf.

This is due to Back to Earth, not that it is series 9, but that it refers to Series 9 being the best series ever, and included bits about Kochanski dying... and not dying... So Doug Naylor jumped straight to Red Dwarf X.

I find series 8 actually pretty good on repeated viewings - series 8 had the bunk scenes back again with Rimmer and Lister - which is what made the early series of RD so good imo.

Series 7 was pretty poor, the extended versions are better, but the lack of a studio audience made a huge difference. It was also the first series without Rob Grant, so Doug had to learn how to do it all himself, and then ended up writing with some new people too. But series 7 does have it's moments.

Back To Earth was sort of intended to be a 2 part show, plus a 3rd live, improvised Red Dwarf for Red Dwarf's 21st Anniversary. Instead, it dnded up being a 3 part show. It does follow on from the end of Series 8, and is set 9 years after "Only The Good..."

Also, there is a Red Dwarf in BtE, the show starts and ends in it.


As for where RDX fits in..

There is a Red Dwarf - including a lovely new model *which to me says less CGI... which is a damn good thing. The old BBC model shots were fantastic*

Haven't seen Starbug, but have seen Blue Midget.

There is no Holly, this follows on from Back To Earth.

There is no Kochanski - again, follows on from BtE

This is all I've gathered from the clips online. I'm just looking forward to watching them. :D
 
Argh I've moved house and there's no tv reception! Going to have to sort something out quick so I can see this now.

What's happening dudes?

Just been watching series 2 and just started on series 1 :) I still remember them quite well! The tongue tied song in the dream machine is brilliant :)
