Post-rock

A Silver Mt. Zion better than Godspeed, HOW DARE YOU :) BLASPHEMY!!!

Haha. :) Godspeed did some amazing stuff at the start of their career but I wasn't very impressed with their last album. A Silver Mt. Zion have released 6 albums and they've all been great barring one song on Horses In The Sky.

They're a great live band too.

Sigur Ros are definitley the flag bearers for this genre. SO definitley check them out. Hopippolla you will recognise.

Check out Glosoli and saeglopur too.

Ny Batteri may be a good one too

My personal favourite is Hljomalind ("The rock song") although that is slightly more generic

No one has mentioned 'Followed By Ghosts' or 'Early Day Miners' so those are my 2 suggestions.

Followed By Ghosts
- A Clear Blue Sky (Live)

Followed By Ghosts - The Entire City Was Silent

Followed By Ghosts - Riga (Live)

Early Day Miners - In These Hills

Slint - Washer

My Spotify - Post Rock Play List -

A band that nobody will have heard of (probably) but are pretty good are Codes in the Clouds. Their first album is out soon and they have some tracks up on their myspace page.

I had a quick skim but couldn't find these, so a few more for your delectation:

September Malevolence
1 Mile North
Eluvium
Alaska In Winter
Lights Out Asia
The Evpatoria Report
If These Trees Could Talk
Laura
Saxon Shore
Sleepmakeswaves
Helios

If you like Godspeed You! Black Emperor and A Silver Mt. Zion, they have a load of side projects like Fly Pan Am, Esmerine aaaaaand Set Fire To Flames.

I think that'll do :p

A lot of the music in this thread isn't really post rock.

Anyway, today I'm having a Silver Mt. Zion day. Here here.

Fella, check out Death in Vegas. I'm guessing they're something you'd like too - psychedelic and electronic rock.

I quite like this one:
