About the norm for down here. 3 network.

This thread is depressing :(

I just managed to break 6mbit on my broadband.

Voda just updated this area 6.9MBit/down, 1.8MBit/up on 3G (almost as good as my old ADSL2+) need to get a 4G sim to test. O2 here gets 40/10+ on 4G.

Giffgaff 4G on a Lumia 640 in Andover:

Ping: 71ms
Download: 1.21Mbps
Upload 4.22Mbps

Pretty bad!

I finally cancelled GG 2-3 weeks back as I had more days at dialup speeds even on 4G than days when it worked at 1MBit/s let alone multi-mbit/s. Fortunately it was a backup sim and not for my main device.

3G however is dreadful. Three keep telling me that it's getting a capacity upgrade, i was first told that nearly 12 months ago. :p

Sure - I can see transmitter from my desk too. Would have expected it to be higher than that :/

Still, nearly 2x download speed of my broadband but 32x speed of my upload!

Sorry for the thread necro, here’s mine at home in Jersey…

I have FTTP fibre as well so this is perfectly adequate for mobile access. We don’t have 5G here yet.

Holy thread bump Batman.

I see in all these years some networks just haven't really expanded coverage to decent speeds :p

Meanwhile on EE...

I'm with 3 for 4g broadband. Usually around 50.
Better than the adsl we were stuck with a year or so ago.
A new company has been installing fibre around us so I might see what they're like when my2 year contract is up.

Found out the reason why I'm *only* getting 10Mbps download on my mobiles 4G+ connection is because the service provider deliberately limits the connection speed to 10Mbps. This is their policy on PAYG plans.
