Good idea for a thread :)

Bet that made you jump! I rode through a bunch of pigeons many moons ago, one of then hit me in the chest, surprised I stayed on the bike, took the wind out of me.

Will be going on my biking trip week after next. Will no doubt have a few random daily encounters by then!

Had a dig through some of my old GoPro/Drift footage, totally forgot about this..

April 2012, mate on his brand new R1, just over 100 miles on clock, on our first ride out after a head on accident he had 6 months previous.

He was ok, R1 was written off, hitting the kerb and flipping it damaged the frame.

Not so much a daily encounter more like a daily **** up :D

It was a mixture/combination of things that caused it. Firstly he was stiff as a board and body position was all wrong.

Secondly it was pretty chilly and the road was 'green' from all the rain that month (think it was the only day it didn't rain), plus stock Dunlops that came with new R1's weren't great, just over 100 miles of wear and new/shiny edges/not scrubbed, which weren't upto tempterature on less than grippy road, it was only ever going to end in tears.

Easy to criticize watching the video afterwards, but he's learnt from it. :o

I think this question is still on topic: what camera? We at the stage of decent cams that overwrite old data?

Do you mean DVR mode? Most of them have that. My HD Ghost does, you just press the button on the wrist strap thingy and it'll save the last 1.5mins (which IIRC you can set to be longer or shorter)

More pics people!

How much longer? I know when I had my off I was good for nothing for about 5 minutes afterwards and it was only a minor off so getting to the button would be the last of my worries especially if it was worse.

1 minute, 3 minute, 10 minute or 15 minute intervals

I just run my camera permanently while I'm riding and delete files & charge when I get in from work, it's not going to fill up that quickly with a 16-32GB card in there. Also means if I do crash then I've got it all without having to worry about the button which I'd probably forget anyway having just come off.

Yeah, I think I read in the car section about cameras where it'll fill up the 32Gb or whatnot, and then overwrite the oldest, and so on. I keep meaning to pick up some cheap'ish eBay thing, find somewhere on-board the bike to hide it and wire it in.

One day!

Well, Snetterton was fun yesterday... I managed whole 6 laps and nearly binned it twice. It was lethal.

It's always a bit unnerving turn up to a trackday when pretty much everyone is on track bikes with full wet tyres. I think we were 3 of only 6 or 7 road bikes there. It seems that now a days no one actually uses road bikes or rides to the tracks.
