It was worse than a handful IIRC. I think they only had to make one single roadworthy version.
25 should be built for homologation, but Wiki says only 23 or so were made.

Seems it changed a lot along with the GT1 class. Some cars needed 25 and some needed less, like the Nissan R390 and Toyota GT-One.

I wonder how much of the bodywork is shared with the 996, the headlights and the boot (well part of it) both look identical.
I suspect the lights are the only identical parts

I think the 996 turbo shared/ was modelled of parts of the engine. I still think it looks a bit like a 996 with a bodykit on.

There used to be a second hand (super)car dealership in Egham Surrey by the train station that had a GT1 in the window for a while. I have a picture somewhere taken on the worlds worst mid 2000's camera phone.
