Absolutely stunning 911 yesterday at DT which the owner has built himself, at his home garage including cutting the body work, then building wider arches, welding, then preparing the car for paint (the only part he did not do himself paint the car) along with a fresh interior trim and running original 3.2 Carrera air cooled engine but running modern fuel injection. His daytime job is an aerospace engineer and in his spare time he likes to restore old bikes and cars, truly remarkable workmanship and a beautiful car.

If youre ever at a loose end watch home built by Jeff. He did a similar thing except painted it himself and stitched his own interior! He's currently putting a Ferrari engine into an Alfa (the Alferrari).

I even took a pick of the VIN? plate in case the front badge was fake.

Why would it be fake? Lamborghini started out making tractors. The only reason they started making cars was because Mr Lamborghini was annoyed with his crappy Ferrari so started building his own!

One of many epic cars parked at the Ring hotel this weekend gone.

Some of our more patriotic E92 brigade

Love the E92 - that V8 is a special engine.

But wtf is with the barry-boi style-only massive spoilers they all have? Great way to ruin an otherwise quite subtle M car...

E92 like the E46 is a very formidable track car particular when setup up well, adding spoilers, cages and weight reduction is all about going faster and been safe. I suspect most are not using them as daily road cars when adding dramatic aero, of cause some will but for some they are dedicated track toys.

Plus racecar!

I suppose it is quite tail-happy... so if chasing lap times a little more rear grip would be beneficial & I didn't notice that at least 2 of them have cages.

But I like the slidey slidey...

At the speed the aero comes into effect nobody wants or generally likes slidey slidey, at the speeds where sideways is fun the big spoilers won't change a thing.

A few of my mates have decided to buy E92 M3's and develop them for track use, so all are in different stages of development. The white and red car were taken down by friends as the 'Barry' owners decided to slum the trip in their McLaren 675's, while the blue one is shared by two mates, so one drove it down whilst the other slummed it in his McLaren 600LT. Bloody bin divers the lot of em! :D

White car is what I would call optimal standard. Lighter by some margin, serious high end suspension, cage, revised software, air box and other choice mosts. The blue and red car less modified but all running track cambers etc and set up for track work. We also had a 600bhp supercharged carbon bodied one and the real low weight/high power version had to take an 11th hour rain check due to some tech issues on the morning we left. There was another one that was also track optimised that joined us too. The owner of the white car is proper quick, will lap low to mid 7's BTG all day long so these mods make a difference at that level. It is a properly sorted track car and I would say the white car is the most sorted and reliable. Next a stroker engine I think as he does not want to go force induction.

I could not keep with the white car / driver when he was full on at it, but he can afford to bin it I most certainly can't afford to bin mine. :(
