Post your dream game.

A Baldur's Gate style party-based isometric RPG with hand-drawn locations but a more modern level of graphics for characters especially, a huge and well written main story with plenty of in-depth side quests and memorable, non-stereotypical characters - but set in the Deus Ex 1 world.

(I may have bent your 'try to be realistic' rule a little... :D)

Sounds like Shadow Run Returns is going to be slightly. :o

Persistent MP elite with hostable servers being able to be linked together to form sectors of universe's.

An open world GTA-like game that properly incorporates choices and different play-styles. GTA/Sleeping Dogs were great, but the stories are linear.

Basically GTA/Mass Effect, with proper stealth gameplay and levelling.

A good STAR WARS game with the old characters from the original 3 films, don't care on what type of game play as long as it plays good an looks good.
Skate or Die remake with the fun the original had, i like the newer SKATE games also but i find it hard to find the fun in them (to serious or competitive).

I have just played through Enter the Matrix and Path of Neo on PC, I must say they were great games even after all this time. My dream game would be an updated Matrix game really, using GFWL ;)

Ok...

An "semi-realistic" simulation of an amalgamation of most modern popular space/sci-fi and other galaxy spanning fiction (ie Star<instert word here>, B5, etc), with well constructed consistent lore, with a properly deep main story that affects people on many levels, containing elements of role-playing, real-time strategy, shooting (first/third person), and multiplayer.
Each player plays out their own character's story (with the depth/characters and decision making similar to in Mass Effect), and multiple players stories interact within the same "world" and all feed into the main story, like in an MMO - but with fewer players per world.

If Homeworld (or Nexus), the X series (or Eve), Mass Effect, all came together as one game - yeah that's pretty much it.

Ability for manual control and spaceflight, landing on planets/asteroids etc, TPS combat on planets/space stations/ships, ability to control entire fleets in space or units on "the ground", endless exploration (realistic galaxy size with all sorts of wonderful phenomena - binary systems, black holes, gas glouds...) with trade/economy potential... the list goes on.

Edit: seamless landing on planets would also be amazing. There's just so much I could list.

Now that would be something.

Ultima Online 2 (nearly happened twice now)

Good one. The one they cancelled around 2001 sounded ace.

Right now I really wish Paradox would show everyone how it's done and make a grand strategy set in space. That would be awesome!

Reading all these makes me think one thing; why the bloody hell do game developers not touch into the open world/sand box/role playing genres more?

Every bloody type of game, except competitive shooters stand to gain from having dynamic sandbox interactive worlds with karma and lite roleplaying systems. Even the mindless console drones would enjoy a game like that, simply add a 'retard mode' to the games that disables all of that, gives them a gun and makes the story linear, both audiences will love it!

If it doesn't have Call of Duty in the title millions won't buy it :p

Thing is, that isn't even that much of an exaggeration, it's like 70% true. The human race is ****.

I'm actually waiting for a proper bunch of developers to come along, one with brass balls and no care for anything, to make an intricate, beautiful, dynamic modern RPG with super complex mechanics and elements, and then just add in a mode called 'Retard Mode' that disables everything and makes it a linear FPS.

Imagine if Deus Ex HR did that, 'retard mode', just turns off all leveling, makes every enemy generic without augs and advanced A.I, makes it level by level and incredibly easy with auto aim.

Imagine the bloody rage from the morons, it'd be epic, just watching their uproar at being called retards would be a game within itself.

i think a lot of people here just are not prepared to pay full whack for games that will be over in less than 10 hours, hence the popularity of open world sandbox games. I love elder scrolls/fallout type games because i can play them for a perverted amount of hours without getting bored. The replay value is through the roof.

I'm a sucker for those types of games which is why anything like elder scrolls or fallout is an instant pre order.

Too true, there is no such thing as a bad sandbox game so long as you can find good qualities about it that you enjoy. I'll be the first to admit Two Worlds was ****, and Driv3r was ****, but you know what? I spent enough hours in them doing things I enjoyed to give me good value for money. We aren't even talking about the good sandbox games yet either...

I would literally be over the moon with a vCoD / TFC / vWoW remake.

Call me stuck in the past but... those games were everything I ever wanted.

I've wanted for over 20 years:

A war game where you control a whole theatre of war, with strategic deployment of army, navy and airforce. You can 'drilldown' to any level i.e. control an individual fleet, an invidiual ship, or even step into the shoes of any individual to man a gun turret, pilot a helicopter or whatever. Meanwhile the AI takes care of everything else. It would have both a fair 'static' campaign of scripted missions and also some sort of more dynamic campaign mode.

DAoC remade practically as it was back in 2001-5 on the RvR front, with Old Frontiers & somewhat altered maps (to my ideal maps, which I'd show said dream game developer ingame!) but with PvE much improved, say Vanilla WoW's PvE system & DAoC's RvR system mixed into one, with a more up to date engine (Unreal perhaps) yet keep a hardcore mentality and not turn into a casual game, yeh.. won't ever happen ^^

Yeah I'm looking forward to that, and to CDPR's Cyberpunk game, and Wasteland 2. None of them are quite my perfect game but they're getting closer!

After The Witcher 1 & 2 I have high hopes for their Cyberpunk game.

I often wonder why CP games aren't particularly common. Last years Deus Ex was a good stab in the right direction.

I still have fond memories of the SNES Shadowrun RPG.
