When Astute, Ambush, Artful and Audacious enter service, they will be the largest and most powerful nuclear attack submarines ever built for the Royal Navy, equipped with the world’s most advanced sonar system, Spearfish torpedoes and Tomahawk cruise missiles capable of delivering pin-point strikes 2,000km from the coast.

Sonar 2076 has the world’s largest number of hydrophones providing the RN with the “biggest ears” of any sonar system in service today.Astute's sonar is so advanced that if she was lying in the English Channel she would be able to detect ships leaving New York harbour 3,000 nautical miles away (although the details of how she can do this are classified).

Able to circumnavigate the entire globe while submerged she will be able to carry 38 torpedoes and missiles - more than any previous RN submarine.
Astute’s Captain will never have to hunch over an optical periscope - a range of equipment including thermal imaging cameras and low light video will enable Astute to capture and then analyse surface images.

Allthough, as with many British Army and Navy projects it was overbudget, the engineering and final build is an amazing piece of equipment. And my in no way edudcated opinion of submarines, the most awsome submarine at sea today :D

They've had one of those armoured land rovers over here for the witness in a trial, was cool seeing it come flying past the court with 3 armed units following it.

This is the ultimate man-thread!
I can't believe it took OcUK this long to come up with this, we should be ashamed!

I also can't believe no-one has mentioned an Aircraft Carrier of some description yet, like the Nimitz?

Posts with tech specs are best! If people could post a few lines of technical information or specifications along with their image, that would really make the men of OcUK make some manly noises. :p

"The 1,500-pound Tomahawk can reach 60 miles an hour in about .75 seconds, and has a theoretical top speed of 420 mph."

8.2l V10 engine with 500hp and 2 wheels. There is no better way to commit suicide.

How about this one
this does have two wheels and is road legal , the bloke who built it does ride it and its done 200 mph :p

Royal Navy's Type 45 Destroyer.

The Type-45 destroyer is armed with Aster missiles which are capable of knocking down a cricket ball-sized object travelling at three times the speed of sound.

Has missiles capable of striking the most advanced "intelligent" anti-ship missiles that can travel at Mach 4. Daring is crowned by a huge 30-metre high Samson radar that can track more than 1,000 targets at once. The system is so powerful it can monitor all take-offs and landings from every major European airport within 200 miles of Portsmouth.

Officers claim that if it was stationed in the River Thames, its weapon system would be able to single-handedly destroy any incoming airborne attack on Greater London.

She can turn full circle within three ship lengths and has stealth technology that reduces the radar signature to that of a fishing boat.

God help anybody who comes up against them :D

The Russian built BMP-3 heavy infantry fighting vehicle. This all-terrain, amphibious beast packs a formidable punch in the form of a 100mm rifled main gun capable of not only firing conventional HE-Frag rounds, but also launching 9M117 (AT-10 Stabber) anti-tank missiles via the barrel. Backing this up is a co-axial 2A72 30mm cannon plus a further co-axial 7.62mm machine gun mounted in the turret, complemented by a further 2 bow-mounted 7.62mm machine guns making this the world's most heavily armed IFV by quite some margin.

And quite frankly, there's nothing manlier than noise and speed, and there can't be much out there noisier and faster than a Saturn V. :p
