Spada Enforcers , Im not a huge fan of textile gloves and these are a good winter armored sports glove, i have had these 2 years and they still look like new, use them all winter.

The quality is good and they will keep your hands warm over mid distances.

In my experience there isnt a perfect glove, and these are just the best compromise i have found yet between warmth, being waterproof, protection, not being too bulky and thin enough to work well with heated grips if needed.

I have all sorts laying around but my current one's are aqua really old but feel nice, never come across a bike glove that keeps me warm in the winter sooner or later the cold comes through.

Everything I read about the Spada Enforcers says they let the water in pretty quickly. How can they be so great if that's the case? I want this in a winter glove:

1. dry
2. warm
3. comfortable/ease of use

Roughly in that order. if I have to wear waterproof liners, or get wet hands, it's a bit rubbish for the UK in my opinion. What am I missing? :) I have some HG similar to the top post, which stay waterproof, are comfortable/good feel, and stay pretty warm - when my grips are on.

I can only suspect that some people may have got duds, as there's a reason Ride gave them a recommended stamp in 2009 :

I'd guess they use the same principal as a Oxford Bone Drys and most other "waterproof" ones too, which I once cut open. They have a full hand shaped plastic glove (Gortex most of the time) between the inner and outer layers, so unless someone messes up the stitching when putting them together they should be waterproof - at least to start off with.

MCN surveyed 12,000 riders to find their favourite winter gloves around that time too - both yours and the Enforcers were in the top 10 : http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/P...009/October/oct2309-top-10-waterproof-gloves/

Ah thanks Blonde!

Yeah, that HG pair at number 4 is my exact model. I've wondered after using them for a couple of winters how they actually rated compared to others, so it's good to see they're actually pretty decent :).

The Buffalo at number 1 looks pretty nice, might try it out... or just stick to mine and stop spending!

I'm also looking at getting some gloves for winter and most of the year.

I was looking at the Spada Enforcers too and found very hit and miss user reviews, they do terribly in the below group test.

Think I'll just spend the extra and get the Richa Cold Protect's.
Was looking at Weise Legend's also but couldn't find many reviews.

Edit: Seems the Cold Protect's faired well after a few months use also:

I'm going to my local shop tomorrow and will have a look.

I'm with you - my new Weise Hornets match my jacket and I'll likely be using inner gloves too in no time, but if there's something out there that will keep my hands from freezing then I'll give them a whirl as I have the same problem every year. It may even come to trying some heated gloves out as I refuse to get some muffs even on this scooter...

They may have or had some manufacturing issues like Oxford did with my Bone Drys, at a total guess. The weird thing was, when I pulled the waterproof membrane out after my hands got soaked and tried that part in a bucket of water they were totally waterproof!? I wonder if it's the layers on top causing the membrane to fail!? It gets right on my **** every year as the rest of me is dry and reasonably warm too.

Good luck!

Good luck!

Just as an update, got to the shop. Looked at the Spada Enforcers and Richa Cold Protect's. Got neither in the end.
I decided to get some mid-season gloves for most of the year and then maybe use heated grips for when it gets properly cold. I haven't started riding yet so didn't want to buy some gloves that I'd only use for a couple months of the year. The Cold Protect's did seem nice though. Got some Richa WP Racing gloves, few favourable user reviews, fit and feel was perfect for me.

Also ordered matching Alpine Andes Drystar textile top and bottoms, got a £70 discount for buying them with the gloves.
And a Shoei Qwest Paragon for £225 as they were clearing stock. Can recommend Lids Direct to anyone shopping around Watford.

Nice gear! Nothing like a good spend in a bike shop :)

If the jacket doesn't come with the back insert I'd get one for it, if not a proper back protector like a Forcefield Pro.

Using an old pair of £30 Weisse ones. Forerunners of the Bergan, I think. About 7 years old, they don't even make these any more. I've had to restitch a couple of seams, but they're still fully waterproof and pretty warm.
