Postage Costs

Hi

How do you post you heavy items?

I sold a mobo/RAM and CPU for £75 on MM, and the postage costs for Special Delivery with Royal Mail came to £19.45 what a rip off....

What do you use?

RM. G15 kb in huge parcel @ 2kg+ came at under £8 first class.

I posted a mobo for way less than that. Are you posting in a huge box? I think prices are based on size for regular post and weight for courier.

try padding the mobo in its own box then just wrapping it in parcel paper.

I did that

The package was normal mobo, CPU and RAM. All in the mobo box.
The arctic cooler was the problem, seperate box, and I just wrapped the 2 packages together side by side!
The size of the package doesnt make any difference its the weight which was 2.068kg

RMSD prices go from £7.75 for less than 2kg to £19.45 for 2-10kg. So if you can get it under 2kg, which going by the weight you have quoted you probably can, then you would save quite a bit.

You got stung because you went over 2Kg, it would have been cheaper to send it as two packages.

Or bin all the random leaflets and stupid bits of unneeded cardboard til its under weight

For a while now, its actually been cheaper to send large items by Parcelforce. If you had a £19.45 Special Delivery, if I remember right, thats equivalent to a £10.99 48 Hour Parcelforce service. Takes an extra day, compensation is only £150 (unless you pay a bit extra), but otherwise everythings pretty much the same.

It used to be, in the Post Office I work at, that most items would go either Standard Parcel or Special Delivery and you'd get maybe 3 or 4 Parcelforce items a week. Nowadays we're sending off about 3 or 4 a day with very few Standard Parcels going out.
