Edit: Waste of money as much as the standard lottery is. It's harder to know the odds, though I'd imagine they're be better than the national lottery. But since I play the national lottery now and then, I'm not about to start judging!

However, by signing up to the postcode lottery, you'd probably be signing up to a ton of junk mail too.

PMSL made me lol out loud here in the office, probably because ive seen enough of their ads so now i can imagine his voice when someone writes it down

In the normal lotto, I've done 2 lines every year since mid-2006. That's like £700 in tickets. Had a few tenners out of that plus 4 numbers on one occasion which went for £88. So not a great return, despite the already meagre payout percentage of 50%. Even 1-armed bandits are much higher at ~80%. I don't want to be a millionaire or anything, just £50,000 perhaps, enough to pay off the mortgage. Does anyone know of a lottery with lower jackpots like that but with a higher payout of 50%?
