Heya guys.

So i have been having these issues with my rig its about 4 or so years old, When i restart my rig it will not always post at all, No screen input nothing, Fans running, Hdd's running. But nothing on the screen. Now if i power cyle the pc a few times switching it off and on it will eventually post for me. Has taken 10 or 15 times turning it off and on untill it would finnally post.

But since last night i havn't been able to get it to post at all, when it has been up and running it has been stable and i was pushing it under games like Arma 3 and Stellaris without any issues.

So today i decided to do a full tear down of my rig and try breadboarding it on the mobo box with the bare min. I had no luck in that regard, I tried a known working psu as well as a set of ram that is known to be working, Tried also plugging directly into just onboard grathics and not my GTX 1070 and i had no luck there either.

I'm pretty much at a loss here because i can't quite understand whats at fault here. this has been on going for the past 2 months as well, i just choose to not restart often if at all.

I'm currently guessing that my motherboard was dying and now has completely died on me, I don't think that its the cpu because i was pushing it under games that are quite intenstive without any issues or crashes.

Could anyone help? Currently about to rip my hair out lol.

When you were testing it did you have any HDD's or SSD's attached to it? I had similar symtoms with my rig about a year ago and it was a failing HDD that was causing it.

Nope when i breadboarded it i had nothing connected to it apart from the bare min, so no HDD's or SSD's attached and it still wouldn't post.

do you have one of those little lcd screens on the motherboard by any chance? they usualy show error codes?
or if not some come with little speakers you attach that give out beeps to give you an error code.
Failing that have you re-seated the CPU?
What RAM are you using? are you using 2+ sticks? if so try one in each DIMM slot

What are the exact specs?

I havn't reseated the cpu because it hasn't ever been moved since it was built and had no issues for a good 3 years. Tried each stick of ram in each slot and didnt make any diffrence.

Asus pro gaming board 5 (I think)
16gb Corsair DDR4 ram
750watt Corsair PSU

Yeah there's no little LCD screen to show me errors nor a speaker. Only a little panel of LED's that light up that you have to refer to the manual to figure out.

Only one LED turns on but it eventually turns off again i assume that's due to it powering it.

Had something similar just recently. PC freezing, BSOD and sometimes just a black screen.

Thought it was a new SSD i had just installed as my old one worked perfectly fine when i reinstalled it.

Then about two days later it started again. After going through the bios to see if i could see anything unusual, i noticed the 3.3v was only 2.8v.

Found that just removing my extension cables and reseating the 24 pin and GPU cables sorted it and my computer is once again rock solid.

I know you will have reseated your cables but is worth checking in bios to see if your voltages are correct. You may have to wait a bit to see if they drop to low.

yeah but thats the thing, i can't even get it to post 100% of the time, so i'm unable to actually get into the bios and if i do by chance get it to post like i can sometimes, then i'll encounter another restart from saving settings in the bios.

Currently buying a motherboard from amazon to see if that is the issue if not i'll return it but out of ideas right now.

Sorry, i totally misread the second bit about not posting at all now.

Only things i can suggest now is reset bios to default, or even try a new CMOS battery.

Yeah, tried resetting the bios to default by shorting the pins, and even removing the battery. Tried a battery too from my other rig which is working fine. Nothing, i'm suspecting that the mobo has died or isn't supplying the right signal or something to the cpu to fully power up.

I'll know more tomorrow as the new mobo is arriving tomorrow, i'm hoping that its the mobo that has died on me tho and not the cpu.
