Postman

So what happens when you order something expensive, he drops it in the bin and it isn't there when you go to check? Seriously I'd complain and get the cretin the sack!

Maybe just maybe he seems to think it’s okay as the guy hasn’t said anything to the postie about leaving stuff in the bin, I would be telling him the first time he did it not to, bit of communication doesn’t go a miss.

If it's expensive I make sure it's recorded delivery and get it sent to a workplace of my family.

I can't get it sent to mine unfortunately as I'm rarely in the same place.

Yeah, but that's not his job. His job is to deliver the mail to the house and if the person ain't in then return it to the depot for pick-up/re-delivery. What's even more shocking is that he seems to be dropping items in there that require signing for.

It's just another case of the laziness and general apathy that's infecting our society!

Yes I know what the job entails, a nice polite chat with the postie when the first time this happened will have solved the problem would it have not? Rather than going full guns blazing trying to get the guy sacked, he may well have a family to look after?

If I can catch him over the next few days I'll try and have a chat with him. I really don't want to go down the complaint route as he does seem like a nice bloke.

Hopefully that will cure it!

Yes it’s what I would do, like I say he is probably seeing it as doing you and him a favour as you haven’t said anything to him as of yet, have a word and I’m sure he will stop it :p

Report him, he is cutting corners he is not doing you any favours, wtf leaving parcels in the bin thats terrible.

You would be amazed at some customers where they request for us to leave there parcels and I can assure you leaving them in a bin is nothing to some :p

Well I suppose Ill add a word.

I cant say that I would personally do the same unless I had confirmed it all with the customer first. Also I wouldnt leave a recorded delivery as I would need my signature on my wee sheet.

The only corners I would be tempted to cut at this early stage in my posty job is leaving Free lightbulbs on peoples doorsteps.

Until I got this job I would moan about similar things as the OP. But now that im doing it. The sheer quantity of parcels and packets to be delivered ontop of standard letters is ridiculous

Flaming energy companies dish out free lightbulbs which take up a serious amount of space in my bags each day. And if people dont answer ya gotta leave a notice and carry the bloody boxes around for the rest of the walk.

Id have a word with the postie and explain your views on it. He shouldnt really be leaving potentially valuable items in such a place.

I think if people realised how many letters and packets an average postie has got to lug around with him, they would be suprised. I know I was.

This is why you always tip your postman at Christmas. Whenever I'm not in ours delivers the package to my mother's house which is a mere 5 minutes away, rather than the 25-30 minute trek over to the sorting office.

Really nice bloke as well. I always give him £30 and a six pack of Bud at Christmas just for the excellent service that he offers.
