Got bad posture, probably because i use computers every day in college.

Probably the way i sleep too, when i lock my shoulders back the bottom part of my back aches :/

Thought about using no pillows and just sleep flat straight, which i find hard..

hmmm

advice wanted

My posture is awful too, for exacty the same reaons! When I stand straight it's not fully "straight" and I have to really make an effort ot get myself looking fully flat and upright. It's not really noticeable to anyone but me... but then again i'm vain (for my sins) and it bothers me. I think going ot a specialist for advice is probably the best way to do it to be honest... I just haven't got around to it yet.

Go to the gym, stronger core muscles will improve your posture by better supporting you.

If you want to see a specialist then pop to an osteopath. I go see one about evey couple of months just for a bit of maintenance manipulation.

I can crack my back like every 10 minutes because of this poor posture :/

The easiest one to do is just to make sure you keep your backside up against the back of the chair when you're sitting. By doing that, your back will follow the contour of the support, which should improve your posture (presuming you're not using an exceptionally nasty chair).

When I used to have a bad posture, my biggest problem was figuring out how badly off I was without standing infront of a mirror. Try tensing your stomach and pecs - if you find you straighten up a LONG way, then you were slouching to start with - if you're already upright, you should get just a little movement.

Some martial arts and most stretching/relaxation regimes (things like pilates or yoga) can help. I had some Alexander Technique lessons last year cause I was developing RSI, helped with my posture a lot, but what helped the most was doing Tai Chi. In fact, doing Tai Chi every Wednesday would ALMOST repair all the sore joints, aching muscles, lopsided posture that I would get from fencing every Tuesday! :p

I dont even sit in a chair with back support when i'm at my computer as I sit on the edge of my bed, must be playing havoc on my back. Getting a new bed and rearranging my room soon so i can get a chair in.

A Chinese Chi Gung exercise called "Lifting the sky" is very good for posture and back trouble. I often do a few sets of this when my back or shoulders feel tired and achey. The actions are done slowly...

Begin in a relaxed standing position. Make sure there is no tension in your spine

From the Starting position, bring your arms in front of your body, fingertips touching and palms facing the floor.

Start to raise your arms out to the sides in a wide circle, pushing out as you do so.

When your arms are level with the top of your head, turn the palms to face the ceiling and bring then directly overhead. As far as you can, straighten your arms, with your hands at right angles to your arms, fingertips slightly apart.

Hold the stretch for a moment and then lower your arms through a downward arc back to their starting position.

Raise, hold and lower in this arced fashion about 15-20 times

I find that if you breath in throughout the upward arc and breath out throughout the downward arc you get the most benefit.

Really stretches your spine and makes you feel great.

£15 Swiss/medical ball witha DVD/Book should help ypu feel like a twonk and sort out your posture.
