Currently planning on upgrading my computer, and for me, spending a lot on it. I have no intention of overclocking and no need for any "themes" in the build! Budget is max £1k, and have so far got the following.
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £179.99
1 x MSI HD 7950 OC BE 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (R7950-3GD5/OC BE G) with FREE GAMES £173.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £99.95
1 x Microsoft Windows 8 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00403) £79.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD120BW) £79.99
1 x Antec High Current Gamer M 620W "80+ Bronze" Modular Power Supply £79.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £74.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 330R Silent Mid Tower Case - Black £74.95
1 x Corsair Vengeance Pro Silver 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (CMY8GX3M2A1600C9) £69.95
1 x Logitech G400s Optical Gaming Mouse (910-003426) £49.99
Total : £985.20 (includes shipping : £17.85).
Intention is for gaming mainly, the most intensive game I play right now is Rome 2, although this build would need to perform reasonably for the next 3-4 years so needs to be semi future proof. Currently I play at 1080p on my monitor and have a dual monitor set up driven by the one card so that needs to be borne in mind.
If I can drop the cost a bit then that means I can upgrade my secondary monitor, which, due to my old one breaking is an ancient 15" LCD (Iiyama, still going strong a decade on!) My current computer has a 64GB SSD and a 1TB HDD so possibly I could keep one, although both are incredibly full right now... I don't like installing/re-installing so big drives are nice
So OcUK, any suggestions or improvements? All comments welcome and appreciated.
