potential ebay scam question

The only way I can see he can scam you using the Global Shipping Program is if he claims you sent him a brick. It's not a very clever scam and you would hope eBay are wise to it by now. I suspect the likely outcome in that circumstance is the buyer keeps the item and eBay refund you themselves, but it won't be pretty or quick.

Though there's no point worrying about it until it happens, I guess.

Surely, all the buyer has to do is say "lolHacked account" and eBay will refund him though?

Possibly, though you would hope in that situation PayPal would take the hit as it's hardly the seller's fault.

Also claiming you didn't authorize a purchase on your account, shipped to your address, is a bit dumb. They'll probably just tell you to return the item for a refund.

Would have refunded and ended it there

Would have blocked 0 feedback
UK only buyers
Cash on collection

So many ways the seller could claim against you.. My money is on..

Item not as received
Item dead on arrival (probably has a broken item same as one bought)

I'm hoping for your sake the money is out of your account and bank details removed

Always, always, always set up buyer criteria.

"Anyone with 0 feedback is prohibited from bidding" is one that would prevent this :)

If got this rule set up for my eBay account yet it never seems to work! eBay aren't interested in this problem of course.

I haven't used eBay in an age - but back when I used to sell on there a lot there was a mechanism where you were you able to cancel peoples bids. I used to do this with anybody with less than 10 feedback or anybody from outside the UK who had managed to bid despite the auction being limited to UK only.

I have removed my bank account from Paypal for the time being, hopefully nothing will come of it and I can add it on again in the future.

Should I also remove my credit card? I'm not sure if they can automatically take any money from that? I would rather still have a functional Paypal account if possible until I find out if this is a scam or not.

there is a reason many places don't allow Italy for destinations of sales, check out their parcel service ;)

but since you sent it to ebay first you should be ok

You can make a PayPal payment via card as a 'guest' you don't need a linked bank account?

Nothing yet, it was delayed at the global shipping center for a while and it still shows as:

Estimated delivery Thursday, 18. Aug. 2016 - Monday, 22. Aug. 2016

I have un linked every thing from PayPal just in case.
