Potential Project Car - Should I?

It's now mine! :D

Driving it home from work tonight, it even came with 6 months tax with its 12 months MOT.

I'll start a project thread once I've got it home and started playing with it.

The drive home on the motorway was raw to say the least, turned off after 15 mins and went the windy B-road way.

What an experience. The noise, acceleration and grip are better than anything I have driven to date. It does have a bit of a stutter around 3-4k rpm which seemed to get worse, I'm thinking the carbs need tweaking or maybe a dodgy HT lead.

Other than that, chuffed to bits!

He clearly knows something about this car which you don't and is counting on you being gullible in order to get shot of it.

Why would they price it so low if they were that dishonest? If its a prob that isn't easy to spot, just go for full price!

Bargain! My uncle I lived with while at uni built one with his son. Never got out in that one but have been in other 7 replicas and they are great fun - just watch the back end as one of the ones I knew ended up going backwards through a hedge and embedding itself into a tree.

To be honest I haven't pushed it that hard in the bends yet until I've given it a good going over, but thanks for the heads up.

The guy at work I bought it from dropped off some doors, a roof and a rain cover for it today as well which is a bonus

I'll try and get a video of it running this weekend and see if I can can capture the weird stuttering.

It wasn't in case something was mechanically wrong - just a general point about driving these kind of cars. Generally involving driving hard, corners and lifting off at the wrong time (or right footing it too early at the other side of bend!) :)

The issue with personalised plates is that they might never sell and its a faff to have to transfer between vehicles and pay for the plate to be on retention. I tried to sell one separately that was on my second Spitfire, but it never did sell, so I just left it on the vehicle, much less hassle. Didn't affect the sell price either.

The value of the plate has no bearing on the value of the vehicle. Best to just sell the plate with the vehicle.

Kind regards,

David
