Potential Suicide.

Ok replaced PSU.

Seems ok so far,

however I ran prime 95, and got this error again

"Test 1, 4000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M19922945 using 1024K FFT length.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test ran 1 minutes 25 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted.
"

Cant be heat, as its loading at around 65 degrees.

Any suggestions?

OK so interestinly, just taken out a stick of ram, and its prime 95ing fine.

However the harddisk is going mad. So I assume its paging for some reason?

Argh. No idea whats going on now?

EDIT - also noticed "2gig system memory - can only use 1.74gig" and page file is at 1.78gig. That sound right?

Is your ram running at the rated voltage for the timings and speed that it is trying to achieve? Check it in your BIOS to make sure that the board hasn't set up some defaults that are unsuitable for the ram, ram can fail tests if it doesn't have the required juice ;).

Also, run memtest on each stick individually and then together, if it's faulty ram then you should be able to narrow it down this way provided it's running at the correct settings and voltage.

mem tested both sticks, and they are fine. Will check voltages tommorow.

In the mean time.

Just crashed again.

I left it stressing.

Seems like it lasted a while tho.

Hokay, just so you guys know. PSU and memory faliure.

Turns out the second stick of the new set is also dead.

Will be returning them again when exams are over!
