i have just received my Western Digital MyBook Studio... i plugged in the AC, and the firewire into my macbook...
i could hear the hard drive spinning up, but nothing was registering on os x...
there were no lights at the front and the power button didn't seem to do anything...
so i plugged it into my pc, with the firewire... nothing happened, then i plugged it in with usb and it all sprung to life... i switched it off at the button (which had started working) and switched to firewire on the pc... this now also worked...
SO... i've now gone back to the macbook and everything is working how it should be... but this little escapade has left me doubting the reliablilty of the drive... and it NEEDS to be reliable...
(another point to mention, is the power button seems quite strange, sometimes feels like it doesn't actually depress...)
but as i said, it is working now... so what do you think? should i put my faith in it?
