Hi, i have a sparkle 6600 256MB (fanless, HUGE HEATSINK) graphics card in my rig which i bought about 8 months ago. I recently took this graphics card out of my pc to help a friend fix his pc. When i took the grapicx card out i noticed it had a power connection (not sure of the name of this connection but i think its a molex just like what my dvd writer and HDD have) which i never noticed when i installed it (doh). I have never had any problems with this card even though i use my rig for games. When i put the GC back in my pc i started to play a game thinking that i would get a performance boost but if anything my frame rates have dropped a little. Should this be happening and shouldnt the card not work without the power connected.

The moral of this tale is allways read the instructions.

You need a power connector to the graphics card so it gets the amount of power it needs as it doesnt get what it needs from its AGP/PCI Express slot :)

i once forgot to put the power molex back in(6600gt) after having everything apart and didnt notice till i started to play games and a low power warning came up. So i guess you just got lucky and ** mb was supplying enough power (somehow!) to run it properly. guessing 6600 uses less power than gt version
