I know the purists, possibly the sparks kicking around these parts may have something to input.

I know regs have changed for office space and specifically "furniture with embedded electrics" e.g. sofas etc. however we've all no doubt been mounting power extensions under desks for a long time right?

Instead of a typical surge power extension, I'm contemplating buying a 10-12 socket pdu, with surge and a 13amp fuse and 3 pin plugs. The 'proper' units for use in office space have individual 5amp or 3amp fuses, a pdu does not.

I'm not going to be plugging in fan heaters and high draw devices, the worst will be on occasion a single soldering iron whilst 95% of the other stuff is off anyway.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that right?

Don't see much of an issue, general guidance would typically be no because having 10/12 sockets would typically encourage unaware people to plug more in.

I was 99% sure but always prefer to question my ignorance :p

It's to protect numpties from themselves, but will be fine, as suspected.

Cheers both
