I have 4 Solwise Homeplugs around the house purely for RasPlex streaming to the bedrooms from my server, for this it is fine. My wee boy is getting a gaming PC for his christmas this year and I've just recently bought and fitted a Unifi Access Point into my upstairs landing ceiling. Hence the reason I'm spending today running 2 network cables from my Switch, which is on the ground floor, to the loft. It's really not all that hard once you get your head around it. I'm running my 2 cables externally from the eaves down the side of the house and then straight thorough the wall into a 4-way ethernet faceplate next to my Switch. The effort is worth the outcome
