Does any have any ideas how I can control power options via group policy? I know that there's some third party software available that require you to install client software which i'm not too keen on.

The only other way that I can think of, to allow only the power options applet in control panel (as this is completely disabled) and set permissions via group policy to allow the user to set/save the settings.

I would have liked to have the same settings straight across the board and spare the phone calls from troubled users trying to configure them.

Any ideas??

As far as I know you can't directly control the power setting through group policy without some sort of client software on the machine. I think it's because the setting are stored in the registry as binary rather than strings or integers (but don't quote me on this ;)).

I use the software from here at work and I haven't had a single problem with it in over a year. I have the client set to install on each machine using gp. Works like a charm :D

Cheers for that, looks like a decent tool. Didn't really want the hassle of having to distribute client software via GP. I read somewhere that this will change in Vista and that the power options will be configurable via GP.

I'll download that and have ganders on Monday, thanks again :)
