Hi guys so yesterday I got myself a vertical gpu mount for my card. Upon installing I thought I’d check the connector on my 12vhwpr cable and one of the pins looks like slightly green is this anything to worry about? Adaptor doesn’t show any signs of melting

Not sure if your able to get a photo.

With the stories of these connectors burning I would be wary of it, but would need to see what it looks like.

It looks like either corrosion or there has been some arcing, either way I would be very wary of that cable and would probably not use it due to the melting problems with this awful connector.

Cards fine mate just looks like bit discoloured like green colour it was corrosion what could cause that

Aside from overheating because of excessive currant, exposure to acidic/caustic substances maybe.

Has the connector on the card been replaced? Some types of flux can cause corrosion if not removed.

did you buy it as a full system? make it the retailers problem...

The irony with the 12v 'high power plugs' is they are only safe to use with lower power GPU's.

No buddy built myself from and that’s strange everyone I’ve seen mostly use the 12vhwpwr connector?

^Funny but so very true. It's a horrible connector that should never have seen the light of day and is even affecting AMD gpu's that use it now.

I have just spoken to a member of overclockers support team see if I am best to rma the psu and get it checked as don’t want to cause damage to my gpu

Update: spoken to Matt from the team and has advised me to try and give the connector on the psu a brush out and report back if any issues
