Power Supply

Hey, will bump the thread as i have a PSU issue.
Bought a PSU and it seems that it have some 8pin connector problems, as motherboard works fine and vga card works fine as well.
i connected my old 500W psu and it boots fine but it doesn't want to boot with new 700W PSU. How i know that it's CPU? I have a LED lights on my mobo which show on which load phase CPU is and it doesn't go any further then phase 1.
So my question is, if i will by molex to 8pin converter, can i use it instead of original 8pin connector that psu had? or it's not secure and so on... ? Does it makes any difference at all if i will use a converter instead of original cable?
Converter is only 3 quid. But to send a PSU back to seller will cost me much more as PSU is heavy. So it might be easier for me to buy that converter and power up my PC with it instead of sending back PSU, pay return postage cost and then wait for a new one.

Thanks.

have you pluged in BOTH the 24pin and 8pin(the cpu/eps or whatever 8pin connector NOT the pci-e 8pin connector).

Yes, obviously PCI-E are in VGA card and 20+4 is in the right place, and 8pin is in the right place as well. That is just a silly question.
Just would like to know is it safe to convert 2x4pin molex into 8pin and connect it to power up CPU. Will it actually boot up and will it be secure or not?
