I've got a shuttle X pc case and the power /reset switch connect to the motherboard by a USB 1 or 2 connection. i'm gutting this old case and planning an ITX build. Will any motherboard 'accept' this as a way or turning a PC on, or will it be hit and miss if the bios supports it?

I think virtually all boards use the standard header pins on the motherboard, do you have a pic of the connector.

Here are some pics:

It is on an old Shuttle X PC using a S478 'FlexATX motherboard' so might not be using any modern standards!

I'm confused by the mention of USB.

The connector block shown in the third picture? Do you mean that? That will fit on any motherboards correct pins as a whole block.

I think the op is installing a different motherboard in the case so the connector won't fit.

Oh, I see what he means now, with it being an all in one block, like the usb headers use.

The front panel header will take an all in one block like that too, it should just slot on to any m/b no? The pin positioning is standard right? Some cases come with an all in one and some come with them all as seperates, but they amount to the same, except the all in one block is less fiddly.
