Hey all,

Was just wondering on people advised, and what they think.

Currently have: -
Ati 4870x2
Asus Rampagex48 DDR2
Corsair dominator 4GB 2x2GB - with fan
2 samsung 320gb 7200spin sata hdd
cd/dvd drive (dont know make)
**cool master 1000w real power**

This is all well and good, but im wanting to water cool, the CPU and GPU, and also go Crossfire, i went to a site that does PSU calculations, and it suggests a 968w psu, which is a lil close for comfort, and was just wondering on what people thought, and if they would recommend a new PSU - keeping in mind the PSU i have is possibly about 1month old

theres no way thats draws 968watts.! even if you go crossfire.

when you have it all watercooled and have the second graphics card i would say it would max out about 700watts

I would think 650w would be fine for that setup as it is.

I don't know the power draw of the 4870x2 but it won't be over 800w crossfire.

All the above is just guesswork but a 1kW supply would be fine for absolutely any rig I would think!

So does it also have CPU or are you using it just as nice paper weight? ;)

~265W for CF power hog, ~80W for popular G0 Kentsfield and 60W for rest and we're stretching out for above earth shattering 400W peak draw.
But in practise even that is more theoretical than real because these figures need deduction of 15%:
