"Power windows" option on Focus ST

I took a test drive in an ST2 this afternoon and I have to own one! I'm looking for some prices on the web at the moment and was just wondering exactly what the "Power windows and global close (5 door has powered front and rear)" option means.

Without this option are the windows in the 3 door (ST3 probably) manual or are are the "power" windows somehow special?

I ask because the chap I took the test drive with said the model I was driving was the standard spec and that definitely had electric windows but the option list shows the "Power windows" as an optional extra.

I did do a quick google and forum search before posting such a mundane question but didn't find anything...

If anyone has any other buying advice about the ST (such as cheap brokers/dealers) I would also be very interested in hearing it :)

Power windows is an option for the 5 door - electric windows in the back. Shocking it doesn't have them as standard really.

My local Ford dealer (Lawrence of Kemnay) is giving away ST-2s at £17,495 - £1500 off list which isn't bad going at all. I paid full retail for mine (when I had it) last March. Seems that supply has caught up with demand up here.

Superb car but with niggly issues and shocking fuel economy. Traded mine in for a diesel in January when I moved house as I couldn't afford both. I really, really miss it and would buy another without hesitation if I had the money.

Edit: Better check insurance costs before you decide on it too. I was £800ish - 22 years old, 2 years no claims, some points. Some people seem to be paying £2000+ though. Admiral group was best for me.

Thanks for the clarification.

Admiral quoted me £1600 which is a fair hike from my current £850 but that is what I get for letting some idiot crash into the side of me in a private car park. Even though the claim was settled in my favour and I was awarded compensation my premium went up by £280 a year. Damn insurance!

Possibly because having claimed/been awarded compensation they have a worry that should you need to claim on your own policy they'll get rinsed for a compo claim too.

is it the ST that comes in bright orange and one other colour?

Is it also true they only have 150BHP?

not a ford fan myself so never really looked into them but i pointed one out to the missus and she likes them. It'll be cheaper than an RX8 which is another one on her list.

fairly sure the ST comes in more than just Orange and one other colour, think they're about 225BHP or so power wise.

Correct, there are two triple-coat "iconic" colours - asbo orange and a blue colour. You can also get a load of standard solid and metallic colours.

It's 225PS. Plenty of options to up the power easily and cheaply too. One of the latest remaps takes the car to 270bhp for £500.

Available in:
Solid colours: Colarado Red + Frozen White
Metallic: Moondust Silver, Sea Grey, Panther Black, Performance Blue (£350 extra)
Tri-coat: Electric Orange (£695 extra)

I'd have thought the power windows will be there as Standard, Probably disabled if you don't pay extra via some kinda computer wizardry.

I know VW,Skoda,Audi do such things so I see no reason why the big blue woundn't.

Unlikely for them to put door motors and visible switches in that don't function. SUre Ford are just like any other manufacturer in that certain features are there by default but disabled, ie my Missus's mondeo had no footwell lighting because ford did not put the bulbs in, 50p later I have an upgrade :)

Focus ST recommended. But the Fiesta ST is a bit harsh for a daily drive.
