Powerball - How To Do It

Takes a while to get the hang of it. Don't pull the rip cord to fast as you can speed it up with hand rotations.

Kinda..hold your arm out straightish, making sure you don't use/bend your elbow. Pull the cord out with the hole bit facing you, then put your hand down, and just rotate it round in a smooth-ish fashion..

most people try and move their whole arm from the shoulder, dont do it!

keep your shoulder still
keep your elbow still

the only thing you should be moving is you wrist in a circular motion, you will be able to feel when you are in time with the powerball then gradually speed it up :)

takes practice but you'll get there very shortly

It's all in the wrist! Start with largish circles and as the speed increases you'll feel it starting to work

Best advice ever is when starting out, try to image your stirring a big bowl of soup. I know that sounds crazy but its the exact same motion required to get it up to a sustainable speed.

Post a video of you trying to do it, this way we can see where you are going wrong?! ;)

Sadly I have no video camera. (Also, I don't want to be the next Jacob Billing).

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have been trying with the circular wrist motions, and not moving my arm, and it doesn't accelerate at all, it just spins slower and slower.

well that IS what it tells you in the instructions

You can kinda feel which way you need to rotate it, meh hard to explain :p

If it makes you feel any better there was a guy I used to work with who just could not do it, even with us showing him how. He never, ever managed it.

The best he managed was to get the damn rip cord mangled up inside my brand new powerball, idiot.

:p and string? who uses string to start it? SHAME ON YOU  lol

a friens of mine cant do it either. well he can spin it up to ~9k or so, but he cant do any better than that. he did manage to start mine without the string once

Took me a while and it was only after watching the videos that I managed it, somehow the instructions never really got it across. I still cant get it started without the cord though and all mine are dead, been waiting months now for NSD to send me soem replacements as advertised with their lifetime warrenty :(

starting it with your thumb is really just flicking it fast enough to get it spinning. same rules apply as with the string - flick the ball and fast and straight as you can in the direction of the groove in the ball

hey i never said you did! you secret string lover, you

wyrdo what ball have you got? whats your high score?

The ball is one of the orginal green ones, I think it was one of the first with a counter on it. I got it around 6 years ago I think, possibly longer.

My highest ever score was around 13.5k I think, been a long time. I might get one of the fancy new ones :)
