What are the temp difference on idle and full load compared to a stock cooler ?

And would it really make a whole would have difference in the real world to hit 1000 mark ?
They hit 950 1200.. surley thats good enough ?

Our overclock testing revealed that we were only able to increase the GPU frequency by 25MHz more, up to 785MHz. The memory was able to overclock up to 4.5GHz. We had hoped for higher, especially considering the larger custom PCB and heatsink/fan unit employed on this Radeon HD 5850 based video card. We are not entirely sure the extra length and added heatsink surface area is actually benefiting enthusiasts very much here without overvolting capability.

Hmm, I'm into it more for the cooler, quieter qualities. Up2nogooduk did you read both reviews as their conclusions were quite different. But I guess if its pure overclocking you want then the Asus cards are probably the best bet.:)

Both mixed reviews yeah  i mean, i just like to know what difference in load temp would it be compared to this and the asus. and how much fps would i gain with an overclocked asus via voltage tweak of course, to an overclocked powercooler :p

I do like the sound of this card, but i do like to get as much out of a card for performance via games, overclocked :p

I want 2 5850's clocked via 5970 speeds :D

So you have one your self then ?
What clocks did you gain ? and what driver are you using ? got a link also please mate ;)

Cheers

Not yet mate, ordered one last nite. Still have 2 X 5770 vapor-x, yeah I know a drop in performance, but I plan to get another and have CF5850. My CF5770 have been flawless and cool and quiet but they are going on the 'bay'. Only had them since 4th Jan, LOL and have had them at stock. Criminal I know but I dont overclock until I really need to. Anyway should have this 5850 pcs+ tomorrow and I'll post some specs and benchmarks then.:D

Typical...been putting off the upgrade for ages and then suddenly decide I want it for easter weekend. Almost nabbed an ASUS from elsewhere but decided its only fair to show Overclockers some love ;) (thanks for the forums guys)

Thanks Rolypolyman for linking the 2nd review. Overclocking results together with the quiet cooler helped convince me as well.

Why is it that once at the checkout stage I felt such an overwhelming desire to up the quantity to 2? LOL tempting but would be wasted on me at the moment.

5850 version here and it clocks to about 825/1100, the fan is very quiet and even in my extra hot case doesn't go above 60C, most likely because i can have the fan sitting at 50%.
If you want super high clocks get something else but if your not W/C and want silent i recommend this card.

edit. and i ordered the reference design and got sent this by O/C (don't tell them though!!) :)

I just auto tuned using CCC and it came out 865/1080

Oh nooooo. Just been told these are out of stock. Just a heads up for others as the website currently shows +10 in stock. Decisions, decisions....now I have to go through the entire process again to decide on what, when and where to order. Asus 5870 screaming to be picked up but the extra performance just doesnt justify the price....will the "I need it now" urge win the battle?

Hi Kharbyne. Fatboy posted the following on Saturday.

Production and allocation of all 5*** is still really tight. It's going to get worst also over the next three weeks. We will be seeing 5850 this week from Sapphire, TUL, Asus and XFX. Will keep you updated via the forums and news posts.

I dont know anything about this particular card as far as stock is concerned. I am sending mine back however (faulty) and asking for it to be exchanged for an Asus myself.

Jabbs I got the 5850 and yes it looks exactly like the picture.
