TO the contrary, I think a lot of people are waiting for the 5850 rather than rushing in and buying these atm

Waiting for the 5850 here also.

I game at 1680 x 1050 and just want something a bit more powerful than a 4850. I know the 4870 & 4890 would be ideal but buying now it has to be a 5800 series card.

Same here, was going to get the 5870, but i don't think its going to fit in my case, and looking at how close the 5850 is to the 70, may as well just go for that, as it will handle 1680x1050 fine, and still be a decent performance increase over my 4870, its also a bargain at only £200.

The 5870 is at a cracking price also, but its not worth the extra £100 over the 5850, with the 5850 being so close.

Slightly off topic perhaps but....

Kudos to OCUK customer service. Every order I have placed in the past has been packed and shipped super quick. It's great to see members of the team have a presence on the board also :p

The way I see it the 5870 is a very short term card, within weeks there will be better cards available. Also Nvidia are about to realease there next card. Taking all this into account £300 is quite allot for a 5870.

I've had a new i7 build in my basket for the last month and just waiting for the right card, would be nice if Nvidia came out with something around the same time as Windows 7 release.

It will have to be some card. If its priced way way way higher (which it will be) than the 5870 it will have to perform twice and then some better to justify it.

£300 is quite a lot of money, why, you hoping that nVidia come in with a better more powerful card for cheaper

tempting, but then my brain kicked in, £100 for the "small" improvement over 5850 is not worth it for me.

btw when will you guys have 5870 (and/or 5850) with vapor-x cooler ?

Will work on that board fine, just make sure you can fit one in, need about 11.5 inches as they huge. :p
