Hi, has anyone changed the hsf and seen if the memory is 1.1 or 1.4. The early reviews had 1.1 speed chips but some threads say only the XT-Xs have it now and they are 1.4 memory chips. I bought mine 2 weeks ago and wondered if anyone who bought recently had checked.

Yes M8,

I bought one about a week ago at the reduced price :) and had a look at the mem, it was the samsung BJ 11 stuff with I believe is the faster 1:1ns stuff.

Athough it won't clock to 800mhz, it'll do 780mem and 680 core. I think there ain't enough volts going through the mem.

mine has 1.1 memory. but it doesnt clock like the xtx 1.1 memory.

dont know how that works

Tom

same here i have 1.1 and a zalman v900 and can't get much higher than 730/735 on the ram , the core i think is still dumping to much heat on the chips (need to run a 2nd WC loop somtime

I have read aruond the net that the XT doesn't clock as well as the XTX and also when clocked the same it is still benching slower.

Don't how true that is but it would explain why they don't clock as well.

(possibly lower voltage on the memory)

Thanks for replying, I've got mine on 650/770 and it seems to be o.k but its that fast after my x800xt I wouldn't notice the difference lol :p

lol! I noticed this after changing from my X800GTO2.

Before games used to stutter a little here and there with high settings but now its smooth as silk.

Weird aint it,

I'm sure Nvidia use the same RAM on the xfx 7900gtx extreme edition xxx xxx version and it runs at 1800mhz !

or does it use the 1.0ns samsung RAM ?

I'm installing a nice sata2 HD and sata DVDRW tonight, those sata cables are going to do wonders for the airflow in my case.

I've got 2 80m fans blowing in cold wair at the front and 2 sucking it out at the back. At present the IDE cables are just in the way !

Plus a proper workout for my x1900xt tonight, a nice NEC 20.1" 20wgx2 monitor sitting under my desk at the moment, just been dropped off by the nice Citylink dude.

I flashed mine to the xtx bios, and changed the volts on the mem but still no go. Most i have had out of the ram is 813mhz

Any idea what the 2 little micro switchs are on the back of this card ?

Their located near the cooler retention bracket and have a little piece of clear plastic covering them ?

I'm not like thinking the might be some kinda xt to xt-x switch but I'm just interested in what they do !

Don't have a picture as in in the office,

I kinda get the impression these cards have been factory tested and the ones that didn't cut the mustard where sent down the xt chute !

yea, standard speed binning.

Im not sure on the switches either......hmm
they are on most gfx cards

Tom

EDIT : Quick search on google and people seem to think its for PAL/NTSC.
Although i thought that was bios controlled

I think the XT's only use 1.1(1800mhz) or 1.2(1600mhz)ns RAM and not 1.4(1400mhz). The only card I know that uses the 1.4ns is the 7900GT. The X1800XT uses 1.2ns and the XT/GTX uses 1.1 but some XT's use 1.2 IIRC.

@ Tom, yes the switches are for PAL/NTSC.

interesting stuff, ill be ordering a X1900XT 512mb this weekend, im not sure which one to get, the powercolour or sapphire ?, not wanting to go over £317 for one, any word on what memory modules the different cards use?
