Powercolour r9 290 problems PLEASE HELP

It's almost a new card and its not working. RMA it.

If you need to overvolt it now to get it to work, who know what else will come up along the line.

I know it is rather unnerving

Pwercolour has got abck to me, I'm afraid I have the latest bios (never thought I'd say that) so no bios update will fix the problems. i'm running out of ideas and an RMA is looking more and more liekly which is very frustrating. :(

In your games are you seeing the cpu cores loading up properly,
there was a thread on here recently where the omega drivers were causing a phenom 955 to only use 1 thread, the other 3 were sat idle.

A reason for the black screens in 2d or accelerated browsers can be due to IMC. The IMC voltage is shared with the voltage of the Core. When the gcard is cycling through it's p-states, idle and 2d clocks or sudden 3d loads, the voltage and memory speed changes can cause the black screens to occur as the memory speed switches can occur before the the voltage is supposed to increase. If the black screens have stopped in 2d desktop and browsing then the little bump in voltage helped the IMC.a bump of 0.025 0.050 V is nothing to worry about. Considering it's an overclockable card and is built to withstand far more voltage. After all this is Overclockers.

This black screen issue can apply to other 290 manufacturers not just Powercolor.

I spoke more to Powercolour, and after a gew back and forth emails discussing the problems, they suggest that I RMA it as they can't figure out whats wrong and must be a problem with the card.

But just before I RMA it I am going to do a full clean reinstall of Windows 8.1, just in case that could fix it, also becasue I've been meaning to do that anyway

Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered a i5 4690k + mobo + coolermaster 750w.

Going to do a full clean install when the aprts arrive tomorrow, then if the problem persists I'll RMA the card until it works becasue it can only be the cards fault and nothing else at that point.

Plus it gives me an excuse to finally upgrade to an i5
