Powered up, but no visual!

While it is fully built remove the motherboard battery for a few seconds and then try, somebody else mentioned this and over the past 24 years I've had to do this at least 5 times for a system to recognise the graphics.

It doesn't work for an assembly line but I always build computers out of the box. The motherboard sits on the table and I fit the CPU, fan, memory, PSU and monitor straight out of the motherboards graphic output and see if it all turns on and goes to BIOS. I then add the other parts 1 by 1 and each time see if it boots to BIOS. I then add the OS and drivers and only put it in the case when its sat on my table working for 48 hours.

Will try this, need to install OS first so perhaps it wont even be a problem?

And as for a cable: my gpu has a HDMI and a DVI slot, should I get a DVI to HDMI (into tv) cable? or HDMI to HDMI? Whats the difference?

I think you're missing the point, you should see graphics without a hard drive installed so take off what you don't need and remove the motherboard battery for a few seconds.
How are you going to install an OS if you can't see it?

I done an update saying the graphics are working from the inbuilt gpu, so I intend to install windows, install 7850 drivers then physically install the 7850 before trying it again.

If there remains no visual after that, ill try removing the battery.This is the way to go about things i think?
 
Lol Drivers dont load till Windows, you still get image with cable into GPU. Site like OCUK dont supply the drivers.

Have you installed the Drivers for the card? I'm guessing you have an output on your motherboard so use that until you have installed the drivers. Go on the website you brought it from, find out the make and model, Google it and download and re install it.

@OP
You might need a BIOS update for the GPU to work, I also had this issue with my z68 board. Go buy a HDMI cable cheap one dont really matter, Remove GPU for time being and connect HDMI to back of the Board and to TV and power on.
F2 or Delete and enter BIOS and setup boot order to DVD driver first and Hard drive second save and exit.

Have windows disk in drive when system starts and passes BIOS screen Windows should start loading and you follow on screen and continue with install (If you dont understand installing windows you shouldn't be building a system simple)

You dont need Drivers to see an Image at system start-up or even when windows is loaded, You just wont have a nice picture or gaming graphics till you do.
 
Also HDMI to HDMI. If you want the sound coming out of your TV of course.

+ GPU should run in native mode while installing windows then drivers. How do you think us AM3+ Users boot without onboard graphics?
