hi, just wondered weather these EZCool Tornado 800W PSU's will power a mid range dual core system with a 4870 as they are rather cheap compared to good quality ones ?

I wouldnt use it, go for a quality PSU, this is one area where saving £ can cost you more in the long run if it fries your memory, board or GFX card.

Simple answer Yes.

It's cheaper cause it certainly doesn't have the same level of Efficiency, Filtering, Regulation & Protection a more expensive PSU would have. (You probably know that) ^_^

But everyone here will advise you to get a decent make of PSU.

Rather low Ampage on the 12V rails for an 800 watt psu.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole tbh. You don't need an 800 watt psu for that sort of spec anyway.

This psu would be more than enough.

No, EZ COOL are a garbage psu manufacturer, the most important component in a pc is the psu, go with a reputable company, like corsair, enermax, i use a thermaltake toughpower, which is basically a corsair non modular psu, never scrimp on a psu as its that important, a cheap unit, when it blows can kill your other components.
