Hi there, im new here and am looking for a bit of info off some of the likewise technical minded members,

Basically, this is my setup

M2N32-SLI DX WIFI Motherboard
AMD's Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (not overclocked)
Corsair DDR2 Twinx XMS2-6400 2GB 5-5-5-18 (running at 1.9v as instructed on the memory itself)
Maxtor 6B300S0 Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB SATA/150 16MB
Gigabyte Odin GT 550w PSU
Pioneer 111d IDE

Now my problem, my previous pc went through a lot of power supplies in 2 years (approx 5) i built this pc in February and last week the power supply kind of stopped working :( (it tries to power up 3 times then fails) im thinking it may be something to do with the old wiring in the house i live in. A mate told me i may need a UPS with AVR, the one i have seen is this

Plexus V 1000VA UPS with LCD Screen & AVR

would this be the correct one for my system??

Many thanks in advance

Rob :)

Well not answering your question, but what PSU's do you normaly buy? Because if you get duff makes then they will blow.... Also try removing the watermark of that image!

i bought an aspire psu about 2 years ago which cost around £100 (about U.S $193.68) which lasted a month

i then exchanged that for an Aero Cool modular psu

and that failed within 2 months, after that i tried a few cheaper makes which all failed also

have you ever tried any of the more well-known names such as antec, tagan, thermaltake or coolermaster? i'm pretty sure that they would all supply solid PSU's, cant say i've ever had a problem with my Antec yet. (touch wood)
