hi bought some powerline adapters

they are belkin F5D4076uk 1000mbps

after reading reviews they are looking like i will have to return them

on the same electic socket the max i gan get out of them in 11MBps
thats well short of the 100MBps they are rated
i did not expect to get the full speed but half would be nice

so just to put me straight

1000mbps = 100MBps?

the 11MBps i get is 110mbps speed?

so what can people reccomend then ?

really want at 500mbps or 50MBps

any advice?

Your figures are a bit out as you should be dividing by 8 not 10 (8 bits to the byte).

The adapters you have are a discontinued model. You'd be better off with some adapters that are AV 500 compliant.

Have a look at smallnetbuilder.com for some reviews.

I use a pair of the Solwise gigabit ones which are spot on. Not sure of exact speeds but they stream my HD movies from upstairs to downstairs flawlessly. Just updated their firmware too whcih has helped.

Couple of things to check:

Make sure they are not on surge protected plugs as this can impact performance

If they are on seperate ring mains in the house this can also cause problems

What is you setup?
Mine are connected to the gigabit switch on my superhub. And my pc/nas are also gigabit. Unless your gear is rated at gigabit speeds that will also interfere with performance

Here's what annoys me, when ISP say 50Mb connection everything thinks Megabyte. It gets extremely confusing when you have Mb and MB, especially when most people just get "meg connection" lol

my adapters have been brilliant. constant speeds all the time with my 50mb connection.

Best £30 i've spent in ages

I have always used Solwise ones also, and you can even buy them directly from their website, which also has lots of info etc.

They also offer a very good before and after sales service, if you aren't sure about any aspects of their products.
