Hi all,

I have a pair of Solwise PL-1200AV2-PIGGY linking my router to the wired connections behind the TV (previously for Steam Link, etc).

These are now discontinued, and I wondered if there were better versions available and/or if the technology had moved on to allow for a better performance?

It's not easily possible to run a cable from router to where the TV sits, and the plugs serve the purpose for most things - it's just I've recently been playing with Nvidia Shield and although it works fine, when you test the connection it grumbles about the quality/speed.

Thanks

I don't think thinks have moved on significantly for powerline, except the price point of combined powerline / wireless access point plugs has dropped quite a bit.

Wireless capability has improved significantly with Wifi 6 etc though. Might be worth looking again at whether that might be a better choice than replacing the powerline adapters.

I'm sure lots of people will be along with the generic "but wired is just better, run a cable" or "run a cable to a centrally placed Unifi wireless access point" that seem to appear in any networking question on the forum these days.

Thanks - I was thinking that, my wireless is good and stable and reaches most of the house well (bit dodgy in the garage...); but previously had better speeds using the adapters (this was in a different house though).

Will do some speed/stability checks and see if it's worth making the switch.

I expect the 'just run a wire' responses, it's just not possible - not easily, and therefore would rather go for a low-effort, slightly slower speed solution.
