Hi,

Pc spec in signature. My powerline kit seems to be holding me back.. Im getting 25 to 40Mbps through powerline..

I'm on 100Mbps with VM.. Have there very old powerline adaptor they gave out years ago and a on networks version.

Always preferred Ethernet of some sort but what do you recommend?

Thanks

In a bungalow a cable between rooms must be quite and easy thing to do but if you must use something else Wifi should work, with respect to which card pretty much any one that supports the best standard of your hub will do, most virgin hubs are 11ac Wifi unless you have the latest hub 5 which is Wifi 6, Wifi 6 is backwards compatible with wifi 5 so doesn't hurt to buy something with that tech, just not essential.

If you buy an adaptor ensure you get one with Antenna that is relocatable on a tail, rather than just having some antenna at the back of the PC up against a wall etc for best signal.

Test wifi coverage with your phone. in the location of the PC to ensure good signal, apps like Wifi Man can help here.

Wifi on phone (p30 pro) in room sat directly where pc is good, so for ease I assumed getting wifi card is best. running cable yes. But lots of modifications planned at home to wires will keep being moved over this next year. So steering towards wifi card for now.

5m of CAT6E and some RJ45 connectors and you have low latency and fast throughput.

Never been a major fan of WIFI for gaming. It works but it could be always be bested by a cable.

Sure, they aren't as pretty as a Wifi solution but I still prefer them.

Yes.. I get that a cable run is best.. but as mentioned not what im looking for right now.. I dont game much at moment.. house renovations planned and will be moving stuff around.

For me, Powerline is more stable but WiFi hugely faster, so I normally use WiFi.

I'm just using a cheap TP-Link AC1300 on USB, since my router isn't any faster than that anyway. Probably preferable to use PCIe though, since it keeps USB slots free and avoids it getting knocked out / damaged.
