Hello, I'm sick of my unreliable wireless connection so I've decided to go down the powerline route. This will be for my main desktop PC where I game, surf, and download. I currently have 8mb broadband. I also occasionally share files between the desktop and two netbooks, though the files are rarely larger than 1mb...

Question: would I notice a difference between these two in terms of speed/responsiveness over the network? Is the extra 115mbps worth £25?

Thanks.

I recently changed to powerline for the same reason you did. I chose 200mbps as it was better futureproffing. It also allows for more powerline devices in the topology and more idstance between them.

I bought the netgear kit can it works really well.

I have been using Devolo 200 mb "AV" kit for several years - no problems. Network ing / windows home server / DVD media player (bedroom / lounge).

i'm on the 85 verson by Devolo.

It actually connects at ~40 due to distance/cable quality etc and I'm getting my full 10MB net connection down it, absolutely no problems and far FAR better than the wireless I was previously using over the same distance.

I've got Devolo 200Mbps units and I get about 60Mbps in real throughput. I have none of the stability issues I used to get with wi-fi.

the newest 200mbps units do seem to be better for range and speed, worth it to me for my network (media files) not essenntial for internet access and small files
