powerline - quick question

3 i believe

1 by the router

1 by the first computer

1 by the second computer

As long as they are all compatible, two make a network and then you can just add other points of access when you want/need.. so it should be three.

thanks, so each plug acts like a switch? what about port forwarding?

pls check my poor mspaint skill :p

Dont know about port forwarding, thats all done on your router still afaik.

As for the diagram, if you dont want to be moving powerline plugs around then you will need 4..

wireless in my house are rubbish, its big victoria house with very thick walls. i'm currently connected wirelessly at speed of 11MBPS :(

One for each room - or you will have a split network

You could get by with three (without one on the ADSL router) but then you would need one of the PC's on to route the internet traffic.

Personally I would go with 4 plugs and this would mean you could have every other machine off apart from the one you are using.

ok thanks, i thought powerline is just point to point only,

thought i needed 8 plugs  4 for routers, 4 for 4 machines lol

no not at all

Just make sure that in the spare bedroom and your office you plug one of the switch/router ports into the powerline connection - then every machine can see every other

Ie once the router (for example) is connected to the powerline plug, every machine that can see the router can see every machine that is connected via powerline
