I'm preparing for an exam which requires learning a lot of facts from figures & tables. So I thought the best way to learn and test this knowledge would be to create a powerpoint presentation (download here) that can hide the data behind a shape and then reveal it when I click on it.

Using the animations function I managed to achieve this with shapes which are triggered to disappear on click but it only works in sequence for each slide. Whereas ideally I would be able to click on any shape to reveal the data behind it and be able to do this as often as I want before moving to the next slide.

Does anyone know how to do this in powerpoint or does anyone know of a better method to achieve this?

Would anyone like to make an app that would do this, and be customiseable to figures and tables the user uploads as it would make a great revision tool for visual learners?!

Not sure about other versions, but on powerpoint 2013 you have the option to trigger animations based on your cursor position. So under the "Animations" tab there is an option called "Trigger". You can set it to trigger a specific animation (e.g. Fade out Rectangle 5) when you click a specific shape (e.g. Rectangle 5).

It worked on 2010 as well fortunately, thanks! I don't know why I didn't discover this yesterday!
