Hey guys,

If i leave my new rig on overnight it seems to have a bad habit of going to a sleep mode or maybe crashing i am not sure.

Ran prime95 for 7 odd hours the other night and got back to computer in morning and was fine, had a blank screen but hitting input button on monitor a couple times sorted it.

Last night i went to bed leaving a game server running and when i got back to it this morning even repeatedly toggling the input didnt get my picture back. Some keyboard mashing eventually got me to the vista task manager menu but i cldnt click anything on it and ended up hard rebooting.

Could this be some kind of sleep or powersave feature that i am not aware of in vista or bios?

Vista sets power save by default iirc.

Pressing the power button wakes the system..

You can changes these settings in the Power Settings under control panel.

Ah thanks man looks like my computer was being put to sleep. Is there any danger in stopping computer going to sleep mode and stopping monitor turning off so long as i turn the monitor off manually when i am outside of the room?

You can do what you want. Sleep or hibernation makes no difference. I find it quite usefull at weekends when the family are on and off the machine. Saves booting up etc.. Weekdays it gets used less so it's off mostly.
