Prague :)

I've just booked prague for myself and the missus in a couple of weeks, staying in the new town not too far from the museum.

I'm just wondering what sort of prices do you get charged for drinks, eating out etc? Any good recommendations? Places to avoid etc?

Go visit "The Ossuary" - it's a church that looks like a little chapel from the outside but inside it is decorated with tens of thousands of human bones. There are huge piles of skulls like Terminator, and candelabras made of bones, even coats of arms, and a bone chandelier that contains every bone in the human body. It ruled.

You can find it in a place called Sedlec, about half an hour on the bus. Nice little town too.

goldenprague apartmenst for the win very nice and quite cheap! Yep prague has sort of been runied by stag dos etc , but I still go there for stag dos :D

Also the city as whole chose this route for some more moeny off us BRITS so can't complain t muich alo if yo go off the beaten track food and beer can be had for a LOT LOT less I've had a nice meal for 2 with plently of wine etc for £13~. If you fancy a walk away from the main parts and thena bit more you can get some greats deal s...........

I didn't see one stag do the whole time I was there. The most annoying thing for me was Australian female tourists who seem to just think the whole place was created just for them to go and have a good time and bore everyone else to death talking really loud on public transport about the rest of their stupid gap year trip across Europe

Eating out can be cheaper than 10-15 a head, I remember going to a place that was about £5 a head for the largest, tastiest mixed grill I've ever seen - it was pretty far from the main square though. Prague's awesome, probably more fun without the missus though! ;)

We got followed around by some random Australian people too, who were complaining that Prague was "so expensive!!". We laughed at them and their crappy economy and eventually got rid of them. :p

It's all about the side streets in Prague tbqfh, place around the corner from our hotel last time (Residence Verona, old town) did pints of Hoegaarden for 60p. Suffice to say we didn't stray far from there on the first night.

Also had the best steak ever in Prague, although the restaurant was called the "Crazy Cow Steakhouse" which was a little bit disconcerting.

The main square is pretty expensive (well, UK prices :)) but the further you venture from it, the cheaper it gets, basically.
I thought the main square was alright for prices. It was Wenceslas square that was expensive.

The old town square? We went to the Irish pub there for one and it cost close to UK prices then went, literally, around the corner and it was 50p a pint again.

:)

I found it was pretty much pot luck for prices. We went to one bar near little nemos and it was waitress service awesome pint and lovley surrounding and they charged us 45p a pint  needless to say we didn't move from there for along time

Ah, we went there too, felt a bit dirty though going to an irish pub in Prague.

TBH the ossuary is novel for about 15 mins but after that there's not a whole lot to do in Sedlec/Kutna Hora... bit questionable whether it's worth spending all that time travelling for it really (it's more than 30 mins!).

A trip to Terezin to go to the fortress is worthwhile though.
