Just past a 1yr milestone on an installation on 30 Western digital RE4 2Tb and 84 4TB ones with not one bad sector or failure. Think i'm done with non enterprise drives now :D

I've only ever had one drive fail on me. A 20GB hard drive, the first one I bought.

Since then, I've backed up religiously to prevent any data loss.

Never trust a hard drive

Do you have any consumer drives data for comparison?

Shifted from Consumer grade shortly after we had 1.5Tb Seagates dropping like flies. The few Hitachi 3tb we have are ok, 2 of 20 went bad within 1/2yr but non since after say almost 2yrs? Seagate is totally out of the picture after we had to replace just about every 2tb after less than 2 years in a computer room with 25 pcs. The Macs we have with 1tb Seagates had 7 of 28 go bad in the first year, though it made a good excuse for SSDs.
