I just got a new handset, (ignito) on a 35 quid tarrif. still withing the cooling off period, will they still let me haggle on the price?

Find another company that offers you the same for cheaper, then phone up o2 and ask. At worst you return the phone and move to another company.
Yeah they should. I rang them up about my current contract a few days after I renewed it and stated I had seen a better deal, they credited me £70 (what I was going to have to pay for the K850) and gave me more minutes and texts.
Those deals aren't looking too bad, I wonder what I can get on the Xperia, I guess about £25 a month with £200 for the phone? Having said that if that's the case I'd probably push to get a really cheap simplicity deal and buy the phone sim free.

Same here. But the difference is that they are giving the OP a phone for an 18 month contract. You and I can just cancel with a months notice. When I look at it like that, I think the simplicity deal is better.
